Traveling through Shiraz, Yazd, Isfahan, and their surrounding villages, you’ll discover the country’s most authentic soul, hidden in its rural landscapes, ancient settlements, and warm-hearted communities. Instead of rushing from landmark to landmark, this itinerary lets you connect with nomads, artisans, farmers, storytellers, and villagers whose lifestyles preserve centuries of tradition.

Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrival in Shiraz & First Touch of Local Life
Upon arriving in Shiraz, you are welcomed with the warm rhythm of a city known for poetry and gardens. After settling into your hotel, the evening unfolds softly with a gentle walk in the old quarters—narrow lanes, carved wooden doors, glowing lights behind stained glass. You stop for a relaxing tea in a local café, letting the calm atmosphere introduce you to Iran’s warmth and hospitality.
Day 2 — Qalat Village: Stone Houses & Mountain Breeze
Today you head to Qalat, a mountain village where old stone houses cling to the hillside and springs run through green terraces. Walking through its quiet alleys feels like stepping into a hidden world untouched by time. You explore small cafés tucked between trees, meet locals who still live traditionally, and enjoy a homemade lunch surrounded by fresh mountain air. Qalat offers a peaceful, story-filled introduction to village life.
Day 3 — Nomadic Life: A Day with Iranian Tribes
This day is dedicated to one of Iran’s richest cultural experiences—spending time with nomads. You travel to the outskirts of Shiraz where tribal families live in black tents made of goat hair. They welcome you with their natural hospitality, serving fresh bread, herbal tea, and seasonal dishes. You watch how they weave, cook, and care for their herds. As the day ends, the crackling fire and panoramic landscape create a moment you’ll remember forever.
Day 4 — Shiraz → Yazd via Abarkuh Village
On the way to Yazd, you stop at the ancient village of Abarkuh, home to a legendary 4,500-year-old cypress tree. The village’s clay houses, ice-houses, and serene streets reveal how people survived the desert for centuries. After lunch in a local home, you continue toward Yazd, arriving just in time to watch the sunset glow across the adobe skyline.
Day 5 — Desert Villages of Yazd: Meybod & Kharanaq
Your day begins in Meybod, a desert town where life still revolves around traditional crafts and trade. You explore its pigeon tower, mudbrick fortress, and ancient caravanserai. Later, you drive to Kharanaq, a near-abandoned village where empty clay houses and twisting alleys whisper stories of the past. Walking through its silent, sunlit passages feels like traveling through a living museum of desert architecture.
Day 6 — Yazd → Isfahan via Varzaneh Village
Today’s route brings you to Varzaneh, a unique white-clad desert village. Women traditionally wear white chadors here, creating striking scenes against the sandy backdrop. You visit pottery workshops, explore old qanats, and—if you wish—try a camel ride on the soft dunes. After this immersive rural experience, you continue to Isfahan and enjoy a restful evening in the city.
Day 7 — Abyaneh: The Red Village
You journey to Abyaneh, one of Iran’s most iconic villages, known for its terraced red houses and elderly residents dressed in traditional clothing. As you walk through its sloping alleys, you smell wood-fired bread and hear the distant call of villagers greeting one another. Abyaneh feels suspended in time, offering countless opportunities for photography and cultural encounters. You later return to Isfahan for your final night.
Day 8 — Departure
Your journey concludes with a transfer to the airport. You leave Iran not just with memories of monuments, but with stories from the villages—faces, shared meals, landscapes, and moments that no guidebook could ever fully describe.
