About this Tour

This itinerary focuses on the highlighted attractions surrounding the main Iranian cities, suitable for experiential travelers. From the Northern jungles to the spectacular deserts of Eastern Iran; from national parks to the unknown villages; all are included in a wonderful package for travelers looking for an off the beaten path through the land of Persia.

Starting our journey from Tehran, driving toward Semnan and Damghan the land of qualified pistachios. After a half desertic experience, we’ll drive toward the greenest part of the country, the ancient Caspian Hyrcanian mixed forests date back to one hundred and seventy million years ago. Visiting Nahar-Khoran jungle in Gorgan bounded by the Caspian Sea and enjoying several springs like Sefid-Cheshme and a beautiful river named Ziarat. Locals also coming by to picnic, drink Persian tea or smoke shisha in one of the cozy coffee shops. We will also visit Golestan National Park spread in Golestan, Semnan, and Khorasan provinces which is one of the most important wildlife habitats in Iran; tigers and brown bears are the most important species of this national park.

After the jungle trekking, we drive toward the holiest city in Iran passing a beautiful city named Sabzevar. The holy city of Mashhad is home to the most amazing shrine in the country, Imam Reza Shrine, and attracts the highest number of tourists every year.

Then you discover Birjand, one of the most beautiful cities on the eastern side of Iran. Our journey continues to a place full of wonders date back to the Achaemenid period, the bride of Iran deserts consisting of several tourist attractions. Tabas has beautiful gardens of sour orange, palm groves, and also it is home to historical attractions and monuments. We’ll mostly spend our time in Desert Villages, the best spots to feel the pristine culture and unique rural traditions; Esfahak, Nayband, and Ezmeyghan are the visitable villages of Tabas. Tabas has many other attractions such as Morteza Ali spring where the hot and cold-water springs surprisingly are flowing in one place, the mysterious Kal-e Jeni canyon, Halvan cave, Khan caravanserai, Kurit dam, and Tabas castle.

After an amazing voyage among Tabas desert and enjoying its matchless attractions we head toward central Iran, Khur o Biabanak in Isfahan province, which presents a different view of the desert. the desert of Mesr is one of the hottest deserts in Iran. Alongside the Mesr village, there are other small villages with beautiful sceneries like Amirabad, Farahzad, and Garmeh. We’ll visit Garmeh since it has spectacular characteristics in addition to palm trees, such as Dr. Fish springs with therapeutic fish and lovely guest houses. From Garmeh we’ll drive to Taft, the center of Zoroastrianism where we can also enjoy a different nature including pomegranate gardens.

Our desert sightseeing finishes here and our trip continues with a unique experience in a rocky ancient village near Kerman, Meymand village and afterward going for a completely different experience in Bavanat county with a partly mountainous climate and a beautiful nature where Bavanat farm stays welcome travelers from all over the world to remind them of the nomadic life. After roaming around Bavanat and live like a local we head toward Isfahan and will get close to the departure point!

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Day
Arriving at Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA) and relaxing some hours at a hotel by the airport. Overnight Tehran.
Day 2: Tehran-Damghan
Today we drive to Damghan one of the main suppliers of high-quality pistachio in Iran and visit Semnan (344 k.m). In Semnan, we go to a hot water spring and enjoy the wonderful landscapes of this beautiful city. Overnight Damghan.
Day 3: Damghan-Gorgan
After a short city break, you will continue your trip by driving to Gorgan County (191 km) which includes one of the most important wildlife centers in Iran with amazing landscapes and natural phenomena. En route, we will visit Badab Soort Terraces springs with breathtaking ambiance. This mysterious place certainly is one of the unique and wonderful regions in Iran. Let’s discover one of the most extraordinary natural wonders in the world!! Overnight Gorgan.
Day 4: Goragn
City break of Gorgan including; Nahar Khoran Forest, Ziarat village, Gorgan central mosque, and Gorgan tower. Overnight Gorgan.
Day 5: Gorgan-Gonbad
Today we drive to Gonbad Kavus (91 km) and en route, we visit Kaboud-val waterfall. Gonbad Kavus is Iran but it is not Iran!! Here you can feel a totally different culture and lifestyle. It seems that you are in Turkmenistan! The name means “the tower of Kavus” which is a reference to the most imposing monument of the city. This tower is the highest mud-brick tower in the world. After the city break, we have a lovely walk through the city; you get shocked to see the dress style of ladies! This city which is one of the oldest inhabitants of mankind in Iran, also located next to the Wall of Alexander (red snake) which is the largest defensive wall after the Great wall of China. Overnight Gonbad.
Day 6: Gonbad-Sabzevar
Today we drive to Sabzevar (360 km) to enjoy the breathtaking mountainous landscapes of Golestan National Park. Overnight Sabzevar.
Day 7: Sabzevar-Mashhad
In the morning, we drive to Mashhad via Neyshabur (232 km). Mashhad is the most religious city in Iran with a basically Afghani culture. This huge city is the second biggest city in Iran includes the most beautiful and mirror shiny holy shrine of the eighth Imam of Shiites (Imam Reza Tomb). Overnight Mashhad.
Day 8: Mashhad
City break of Mashhad including; The holy shrine of Imam Reza, Tomb of king Nader shah, and Torghabe. Overnight Mashhad.
Day 9: Mashhad
Another day in Mashhad to roam around numerous numbers of bazaar and shopping centers with unbelievably affordable prices. We can also visit Ferdowsi's tomb in Toos. Overnight Mashhad.
Day 10: Mashhad-Birjand
Today we will drive to Birjand via Torbate Heydariyeh (490 km), we can also visit saffron farms and if we travel in a few weeks of October and November, we’ll be able to enjoy the harvest. Overnight Birjand.
Day 11: Birjand
City breaks of Birjand including saffron farmland (Khorasan province is the main supplier of saffron in Iran), Birjand castle, Kolah farangi Citadel, Akbarieh historical museum, and Anthropology Museum. Overnight Birjand.
Day 12: Birjand-Tabas
Today we drive to the heart of Dasht-e Kavir, TABAS, to visit the most beautiful deserts of Iran (270 km). Tabas desert is known as the bride of Iran deserts. Overnight Tabas.
Day 13: Tabas-Khur Desert
After visiting Tabas, we keep going by driving to Khur and Biabanak (194 km) to hit the desert culture and lifestyle. Overnight Khur.
Day 14: Khur- Mesr-Garmeh
After visiting Mesr village with the most outstanding desert and the highest sand dunes of Iran, we drive to Grameh village (100 km); In Garmeh we visit a different kind of desert and do a nice safari. Overnight Garmeh village.
Day 15: Garmeh- Taft
Today we are going to visit a very nice Zoroastrian family in Taft to touch the real Zoroastrian culture and lifestyle. You are going to enjoy sleeping in an amazing garden house (290 km). Overnight Taft.
Day 16: Taft-Meymand
In the morning after about 3 hours' driving (280 km) we get to Rocky Village of Meymand (UNESCO site) to have an unbelievable stay in original cave houses. The most different experience of your trip! This village is believed to be one of the primary places of human residence on the Iranian plateau dating back 1200 years ago. Overnight Meymand village.
Day 17: Meymand-Bavanat
Relaxing morning and then we drive to Bavanat village to try another different village lifestyle. We are going to sleep with the villagers. (220 km driving through extraordinary mountainous landscapes). Overnight Bavanat.
Day 18: Bavanat-Isfahan
Today is another exciting day! After lunch, we are driving to the beautiful Esfahan (342 km), and nothing more to say about it! Overnight Isfahan.
Day 19: Isfahan
Isfahan sightseeing and live a day with Safavid kings! Overnight Isfahan.
Day 20: Isfahan-Abyaneh
Today we drive to Abyaneh village (165 km) to have a lovely night there. Abyaneh is a particular village with amazing characteristics and culture. Overnight Abyaneh.
Day 21: Abyaneh- IKA
Transfer to IKA to get back home.
