April, March, October, November and December are the best times to visit Varzaneh desert.

Varzaneh is one of the oldest civilizations, about 5000-years-old, shaped near the famous river named Zayhande-rood. Since the desert is very close to Varzaneh village and it takes only 10 minutes to get there, it’s one of the safest deserts and the most accessible one you can spend amazing times and make a unique experience out of it. Different activities and experiences are also available such as sand-boarding, camel riding, quad biking, paragliding, stargazing, zip line and much more.

Itinerary

Day 1: Isfahan-Varzaneh

After breakfast drive about an hour and a half to Varzaneh Desert, located about 115 km southeast of Isfahan, Varzaneh is a unique oasis due to the height of its sand dunes. There in Varzaneh, we can see some guest houses providing travellers with qualified local services. Before heading toward the desert, we can have a short stop in one of these guesthouses and enjoy a local drink. Desert tour will start after lunchtime at about 15:00, the Varzaneh Salt Lake, Jameh Mosque of Varzaneh, the pigeon towers and the camel mill are some of the attractions you can add to your desert sightseeing. Some activities are also available which needs pre-arrangement such as paragliding, sand boarding and camel riding. You will spend the night in a traditional guesthouse.

Day 2: Varzaneh-Ghoortan-Isfahan

After breakfast, we can have a tour of the Varzaneh village and meet the people.
Then Drive to a small city named Ghurtoon, locating 12 km from Varzaneh, where we can visit an old historical mud-brick citadel at the bank of Zayandeh-rood river, in addition to the historical houses there are also mosques, a pigeon house, a water reservoir, and a mill. Most of the houses have been abandoned although there are still people living there.
Drive back to Isfahan or drive toward the ancient city of Yazd based on the following visits….
